AFRICA DAY

GMC
Advising and Counseling Service

In commemoration of Africa Day, which marks the founding of the Organisation of African Unity, this event is organised primarily by African students at Nagoya University. It aims to introduce African cultures and provide an opportunity to reflect on connections across diverse cultures.

This year’s theme is “Contrasts and Fusion of African and Japanese Cultures.” The program will include presentations by African students on their cultures, as well as comparative insights into daily life and traditions. In addition, with the generous cooperation of local Nagoya cultural schools—the Nishikawa School of Japanese Dance and the Hachidai School of Ikebana—there will be performances of Japanese dance and live ikebana demonstrations.

We sincerely hope that you will enjoy exploring the richness and beauty of both African and Japanese cultures through hands-on experiences.

Language: Mainly English, Japanese is used as needed
Admission is free, but advance registration is required due to limited seating.
